The flag-prayer is a core ritual in the traditional roman catholic guild life of the Noord-Brabant province. This ritual has been known to follow a more or less fixed structure since the Middle Ages. The banner choreographies result in firm flutters of fabric, a sound which renews itself in cyclical movements. Hypothetically, this sound is fuctioning as a time capsule - as it should sound similar to the sounds produced during these rituals in 1450.
Transmission Tissue investigates the flag sounds and dives below the skin of the flagprayer.
This project has been realized in collaboration with St. Barbaragilde Veghel and with the kind support of Stimuleringsfonds.
