Quara Morning (2020)
field recordings.synthesizers.guitar

On August 21st, Intro in Situ released a composition conceived during the lockdown: Quara Morning, written and played by nine composers originating from different genres. I kicked off the process by providing a field recording made on a morning in early quarantine, layering synths and guitar on top. After this, Chantal Acda, Orkun Agir, Julian Edwardes, Daniel van Loenen (Oliver Verse), Reggy van Bakel, Aart Strootman, Patrick Housen and Evelien van den Broek each consecutively worked on this special piece from their individual isolations. The creative process was coordinated and supervised by Tom Swart, as well as the provisional mixing. Rutger Muller (re)mixed the track, Hendrik Simons designed the artwork.

Intro in Situ stands for development and creation of music. Right after the lockdown went into effect, several initiatives were established for performers of music - but not necessarily for makers and composers. Composers are currently experiencing great difficulties due to the coronacrisis. Intro in Situ fears that the real consequences of the lockdown - such as postponed performances and the lack of new commissioned works, will surface later.

In order to stay ahead of the silence and to support composers in this time, but especially to experience and share the joy of making music together without physically being together, Intro in Situ invited nine of her composers to create a ‘viral composition’. The result is Quara Morning: a beautiful 10 minute piece and a unique collaboration between the composers.

Quara Morning is the first release on brand new label Intro in Situ Records. Click below to listen and support the artists! Thank you.
